منصة ٤٢ يوم هي أرشيف متنامٍ ومنتقى بعناية لعناصر الخط العربي موجّه للمصممين والفنانين، أرشيف بصري رقمي للاستكشاف والإلهام والدراسة والبحث.
The project began in 2021 as an open online creative challenge, bringing together designers and artists around one idea: reimagining Arabic letters and numerals with a fresh, personal approach, one element daily, for 42 days.
We launch each edition by sharing guidelines and unified hashtags that gather submissions into one space. Participants publish their work on social media, and through curation and resharing, a growing wave of creativity emerges across platforms.
The challenge becomes an open digital space for experimentation, where each work reflects its creator’s personality & craftsmanship, eventually forming a collective visual archive of Arabic Language elements in a contemporary context.
بدأ المشروع في عام ٢٠٢١ كتحدٍّ إبداعي مفتوح عبر الإنترنت، جمع المصممين والفنانين حول فكرة واحدة: إعادة تخيّل حروف وأرقام اللغة العربية بروح جديدة ولمسة شخصية، عنصر واحد يومياَ لمدة ٤٢ يوماً.
نُطلق التحدّي عبر مشاركة التفاصيل والهاشتاغات الموحّدة التي تجمع الأعمال في مساحة واحدة، ثم ينشر المشاركون أعمالهم على منصات التواصل، حيث يبدأ التفاعل. ومع إعادة تنسيق هذه الأعمال ومشاركتها، تتشكّل موجة إبداعية حيّة تنمو يومًا بعد يوم.
وهكذا، يصبح التّحدي مساحة رقمية مفتوحة للتجربة، يعكس فيها كل عمل شخصية صانعه وحرفيّته، ليتحوّل التحدّي مع الوقت إلى أرشيف بصري لعناصر اللغة العربية في سياقاتٍ معاصرة.
In 2023, a new challenge edition revealed the limitations of relying on platforms like Instagram. Increasing focus on ads and paid content reduced organic reach, while hashtags became less effective in organizing work and sustaining engagement. This exposed a gap between the nature of the challenge and platform algorithms.
By late 2023, the idea of building an independent platform for documentation and archiving took shape, allowing us to manage and present the project on our own terms, in service of the creative community.
في عام ٢٠٢٣، كشف إطلاق نسخة جديدة من التحدّي محدودية الاعتماد على منصّات التواصل، خصوصًا إنستغرام، بعد تحوّل تركيزها نحو الإعلانات والمحتوى المدفوع، وتراجع فعالية الهاشتاغات في تنظيم المشاركات وخلق تفاعل حقيقي. هذا الواقع أظهر فجوة بين طبيعة التحدّي وخوارزميات هذه المنصّات.
لذلك، بدأت في أواخر ٢٠٢٣ تتبلور فكرة إنشاء منصّة مستقلة للتوثيق والأرشفة، تتيح لنا إدارة المشروع وفق رؤيتنا، وتخدم المجتمع الإبداعي بشكل أفضل ووفق معاييرنا الخاصة.
In 2024, we expanded beyond the digital space by participating in the "Hadath Al Khatt" in Egypt’s New Administrative Capital.
There, we created an interactive experience in the exhibitions area showcasing selected works from the 2021 and 2023 challenges, allowing visitors to explore them using an Arabic keyboard. This highlighted both the importance of proper archiving and the impact of thoughtful presentation.
في عام ٢٠٢٤، جربنا نوعاً آخر من الأنشطة الإبداعية عبر مشاركتنا في “حـــــــــــــدث الخــــــــــــــطّ” في العاصمة الإدارية الجديدة في مصر.
حيث قدّمنا تجربة رقمية تفاعلية في منطقة المعرض عرضت ملامح المشروع وأعمالًا مختارة من نسختي التحدي ٢٠٢١ و٢٠٢٣، مع إمكانية تصفّحها باستخدام لوحة مفاتيح عربية. أبرزت هذه التجربة أهمية التوثيق الجيد وقوة العرض المدروس في تعزيز تجربة الجمهور.
In 2025, we officially launched the platform after two years of development. It marks a natural evolution of the project, from a challenge into a comprehensive digital space. Through it, we aim to support and develop Arabic typography, build a sustainable creative space, and reimagine future editions of “42 Days of Arabic Type” challenge with greater flexibility and depth.
في عام ٢٠٢٥، أطلقنا منصّتنا رسميًا بعد عامين من التطوير، كخطوة طبيعية في تطوّر المشروع من تحدٍّ إلى مساحة رقمية متكاملة. من خلالها، نسعى إلى دعم وتطوير الخط العربي، وبناء بيئة مستدامة للمجتمع الإبداعي، وإعادة تصور نسخ تحدّي “٤٢ يوماً من الخطّ العربيّ” المستقبليّة.
يعتمد تصميم المنصّة على تجربة تفاعلية مباشرة باستخدام لوحة المفاتيح العربية. عند تبديل لغة لوحة المفاتيح إلى العربية على أي حاسوب أو شاشة كبيرة، يمكن للمستخدم التنقّل داخل الأرشيف عبر الضغط على مفاتيح الحروف نفسها، حيث يعمل كل مفتاح كفلتر يعرض العناصر المرتبطة به.
يتيح هذا الأسلوب تنقّلًا سريعًا وسلسًا بين الأعمال، ويحوّل الحرف العربي من مجرّد عنصر بصري إلى أداة تفاعل حيّة داخل التجربة. كما يتيح الضغط على مفتاح المسافة العودة إلى عرض جميع العناصر دفعة واحدة، مما يسهّل الانتقال بين الاستكشاف المفتوح والبحث المركّز دون انقطاع.
The platform is designed for a direct interactive experience using the Arabic keyboard. By switching the keyboard to Arabic on any computer or large screen, users can navigate the archive by pressing the corresponding letter keys, each acting as a filter that displays related elements.
This allows smooth, quick navigation between works and turns the Arabic letter from a visual element into a living, interactive tool. Pressing the spacebar returns to displaying all elements at once, making it easy to move between open exploration and focused searching seamlessly.
انطلق تحدّي ٤٢ يوم على إنستغرام عام ٢٠٢١ بشكلٍ مجهول، وحظي باهتمامٍ واسع قبل أن تُعرف هويةُ مُنشئه.
42DOAT Challenge launched anonymously on Instagram in 2021 and and quickly attracted wide attention, even before its creator’s identity was revealed.
استقطبت نُسختي ٢٠٢١ و٢٠٢٣ من التّحدي أكثر من ٣٥٠ مبدعاً من مختلف أنحاء العالم.
The 2021 and 2023 challenge editions attracted over 350 creatives worldwide.
في عام ٢٠٢٣، حوّل المشارك محمد عبد الجواد مشاركاته في تحدي ٤٢ يوم إلى أول خط عربي متكامل له.
In 2023, participant Mohamed Abdel Gawad turned his 42DOAT challenge entries into his first complete Arabic font.
شهدت نُسختيّ ٢٠٢١ و٢٠٢٣ من التحدّي نشر أكثر من ٥٠٠٠ عمل إبداعي باستخدام الهاشتاغات الرسمية.

42DOAT platform is more than a digital archive; it’s a living, constantly evolving resource for designers and Arabic type enthusiasts, combining visual knowledge with experience and offering opportunities for exploration, learning, and inspiration.
On this platform, the roots of Arabic type meet the spirit of contemporary experimentation, where professional designers stand alongside emerging talents, and the diversity and aesthetics of the Arabic letter are celebrated, not only as a visual heritage but as an open field to be rediscovered and directed toward new creative horizons.
تمثّل منصّة ٤٢ يوم أكثر من كونها أرشيفًا رقميًا، فهي مورد حيّ ومتجدّد لكل المصممين والمهتمين بالخطوط العربية. مساحة تنمو باستمرار، وتجمع المعرفة البصرية مع التجربة، وتفتح المجال للاطّلاع والتعلّم والاستلهام
في هذه المنصّة، تلتقي جذور الخط العربي بروح التجريب المعاصر؛ حيث يقف المصمّمون المحترفون جنبًا إلى جنب مع المواهب الصاعدة، ويُحتفى بتنوّع الحروف العربية وجمالياتها، ليس بوصفها إرثًا بصريًا فقط، بل كمجال مفتوح يُعاد اكتشافه وتوجيهه نحو آفاق إبداعية جديدة.
